Having a travel rewards card is crucial if you want to travel hack. Utilizing the right cards can be a major factor to achieve your travel bucket list.

For my trip to Kauai I used my Chase Sapphire Preferred card. I gain 3x on dining and 2x on travel, so I had amassed a good bank of points to use, so my flight was essentially free!I wanted to compare pricing online vs. through the Chase portal so see how I could get the best deal.

First I searched for a flight through the google explore page. Slide through my instagram posts to see a video showing you how you can find a low flight deal using google explore.

Once I found an affordable flight, I knew that the points needed to book that flight would be just as low.

I went through my Ultimate rewards portal and searched for the same flight, and to my wonderful surprise it was only 20,000 points!

There are even more ways to maximize your trips through points! Always check your cards transfer partners and see how many points it would be on their direct website for your flight. The flight I found was through Hawaiian Air, I logged into their direct website and searched for what I wanted. Hawaiian was offering that same flight for 80,000 points in first class!

For those of you who are new to gaining credit card points, 80K may sound like a lot, but most sign-up bonuses for credit cards are even more than that!

This past summer Chase Sapphire Preferred was offering 100k bonus for signing up, now it is back at 50K. If you want to be notified when offer bonus has gone up again make sure to follow my instagram @notsoshabbitravels
